Filed under: How To, Linux — Tags: , , , — amitcodes @ 2:45 pm
I assume that you completly fucked-up gnome while fingering compiz (exactly like I did) .
Open a terminal (ctrl+alt+F1 if you are all-fucked) and type away the following :

$ gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz
$ sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

Works like magic !

  1. Hey People! Its so simple, but usually we never think in a simple way & get too messed up with things like this. Especially the expert minds miss simple things in life more then us….

    I browsed many a forums & websites for help but the one that worked for me was really my own discovery & I’m sure it will work with all similar problems.

    I believe, the Solution I found is the easiest.

    Here it is:

    Just select “GNOME (failsafe)” as your log-on session instead of “GNOME” when you are prompted for User Name & Password. Now you can revert, reset, set defaults & make changes or rectify the wrong settings that you may have done by mistake. After you are done, just log-out & again log-in with GNOME as your log-on session.

    Happy Linuxing Folks!!!
